In 1908 Louis Calas bought 3 hectares of vines and a winegrower's house in Pouzolles to settle his son, also named Louis. Nearby the house in Pouzolles there was The Castle of Saint Preignan which existed for approximately 12 centuries, and it was the property of the bishops of Bézier for most of the time. The castle was built on a swamp, so the soil consist of blue clay which allows the roots of the vines to dive deep and find some water when it is a drought everywhere else. The Calas family bought the castle in 2005, and now Philippe and Pierre Pastor, the 5th generation, are using the same house nearby to produce their wine.
