Funtanì, which is the word for “fountain” in Piedmontese dialect, evokes the geographical position of the oldest Barbera vineyard on our estate near an old spring at the foot of the slope. A very sunny position, old vines and natural production of just a few bunches per plant are the foundations of this product. Made for the first time in 1998, it aims to express the noblest and most complex potential of this extraordinary Piedmontese grape variety. Production of just a few thousand bottles, at the end of an ageing process that involves more than a year in wood, followed by a further year of bottle ageing. Sublime when young, but also to be appreciated after 12-15 years and more.
Deep ruby red
Very fresh and delicate aromas of dried prunes, raspberry, black currant and blackberry
Warm and spicy expression. Complex substantial flavor, velvety tannins.
Superb with typical Piedmont mixed boiled meats, gnocchi with game ragu
