Marsala is the western tip of Sicily, a land that has linked its name to the wine. The sun, the mildness of the place, the beauty of the landscape, bewitch Leone Bianchi, Tuscan shipowner, who, after having supplied the ports of northern Italy for years with the best Marsala, decides to move to this part of Sicily and also produce some wine. A new business, but in the name of tradition: the splendid beam still today, the headquarters of Bianchi belonged to the famous English family of Woodhouse, the one who, in the eighteenth century, had begun the production of Marsala, exporting it all over the world.Since 1950 Giuseppe Bianchi, the son of Leone, decided to characterize his production compared to the other realities of the wine-growing district of western Sicily. Hence the choice to focus not on table wine or Marsala, but original, niche, and quality spirits. A courageous choice, rewarded with universal recognition of the quality of the Bianchi products, such as the exclusive Grappas di Sicilia, which were introduced in 1967.After his father Giuseppe, Claudio Bianchi continued along the line of excellence and quality distillates. For the first time in Sicilian history, the Government established two protected geographical indications because of their distinction: Grappa di Sicilia and Grappa di Marsala. Also, the unmistakable Amaro Segesta, the fine Brandy ""Leone Bianchi"" Extra old, and the Founder's Grappa ""Leone Bianchi"" were born more recently in the small artisan distillery inside the Woodhouse located on the seafront of Marsala.
